Southeastern Technical College Building 2 Commissioning

Location: Swainsboro, Georgia Dates: July 2015 - July 2016 Description: Building 2 was originally constructed in 1963. It was expanded to 38,375 ft² in 1979. It includes administrative offices, classrooms, vocational labs, and a library. Issues with the building included low ceilings, lack of natural light, and disjointed layout. While these characteristics are indicative of the time in which it was constructed, they made the space feel claustrophobic and dismal. Interior space was not functional and circulation was confusing. The Building 2 renovation was a complete overhaul of the existing space to simplify circulation, maximize space utilization, and create centralized student services. Services Performed: ACx was engaged to commission the major systems of this building from construction through first year of occupancy to include mechanical systems, HVAC controls, electrical systems to include lighting, and domestic hot water systems. The project achieved material completion on July 18, 2016.
